Typology

Here will be gathered the Church’s reading of Scripture as one unbroken word — the Old Testament not merely preceding the New but prefiguring it. The Ark that bore the Law, and the Virgin who bore the Word made flesh. The Passover lamb whose blood turned away death, and the Lamb of God slain for the life of the world. Adam and the second Adam; Eve and the new Eve; the manna in the desert and the Bread come down from Heaven. Expect patristic sources quoted at length and verified against the primary texts, for this is how the Fathers read the Scriptures, and how the Church reads them still.
