Andrzej Jerzy Zglejszewski
Andrzej Jerzy Zglejszewski was born on December 18, 1961, in Czarna Bialostocka, Poland, to Tadeusz and Anna Zglejszewski, and he has a sister, Ewa. He studied philosophy and theology in Bialystok before coming to the United States in 1987, where he completed his priestly studies at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, New York. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rockville Centre by Bishop John R. McGann on May 26, 1990, at the Cathedral of Saint Agnes in Rockville Centre.
After ordination he served as associate pastor at Saint Christopher Parish in Baldwin, then at Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish in West Hempstead, and from 2003 as pastor of Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Massapequa. He pursued graduate studies in theology at Fordham University and in sacramental theology at the Catholic University of America, and taught in the diaconate formation program at Immaculate Conception Seminary. In 2007 Bishop William F. Murphy appointed him director of the diocesan Office of Worship, and he became co-chancellor of the diocese in 2012, being named a chaplain to His Holiness in 2010.
Pope Francis appointed him an auxiliary bishop of Rockville Centre on February 11, 2014, assigning him the titular see of Nicives, and he was consecrated at the Cathedral of Saint Agnes on March 25, 2014, by Bishop Murphy. He serves as episcopal vicar for the Western Vicariate of the diocese and continues as an auxiliary bishop under Bishop John Barres. His episcopal motto is Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum, May it be done to me according to your word.
No governing act of Bishop Zglejszewski's own on the 1962 Missal was found. He has issued no decree, granted no permission, sought no dispensation, and made no appointment sustaining the older form that this research could verify, so his posture is no_record. Liturgical governance for the Diocese of Rockville Centre rests with its ordinary, Bishop John Barres, and Barres's acts are Barres's, not Zglejszewski's.
His former post as director of the diocesan Office of Worship, held from 2007, does not change that verdict. A worship-office directorship is an administrative and liturgical role, not a governing act on the older Missal, and no Traditionis custodes implementation document, permission, or dispensation in Zglejszewski's name surfaced in diocesan news, USCCB releases, or reputable reporting searched for this dossier.
Accordingly no site count is asserted for this tenure, no society is listed, and no decree or dispensation is recorded. The verdict would change only on a verified act of Zglejszewski's own - a permission, decree, dispensation request, or sustaining appointment in his name - and none was found after targeted searching, as the research note records.
