Armando António Ortíz Aguirre
Armando António Ortíz Aguirre was born on 17 February 1952; the Holy See bulletin prints his birthplace as Guanajuto, a misprint for Guanajuato, and gives no specific town, so none is assigned here. He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of León on 17 June 1977, and was awarded a licentiate in Philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. His diocesan offices in León were formator, prefect of discipline, spiritual director, and head of the propaedeutic course of the minor seminary; vice-rector and professor of the major seminary; chaplain of Sanatorio Moderno Pablo de Anda; and spiritual director of the theology faculty of the León seminary and parish priest. Since 2004 he has been parish priest of San Maximiliano Kolbe and General Coordinator of the diocesan Priestly Commission, concerned also with the permanent formation of the León clergy.
He was appointed bishop of Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas on 20 November 2013, a priest of León until appointment, holding no prior episcopal office. He was consecrated bishop on 5 February 2014, a date on which Catholic-Hierarchy and GCatholic agree exactly; no distinct installation or toma de posesión date was found in any openable source, so the tenure codes from consecration and is flagged as such, and the 20 November 2013 appointment date is not substituted for it. No diocesan-primary consecration source was located. The diocese of Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas was erected on 11 October 1985, is suffragan of Morelia (of Acapulco until 25 November 2006), and its cathedral is the Cathedral of Christ the King; his predecessor was Fabio Martínez Castilla (2007-2013, appointed archbishop of Tuxtla Gutiérrez). His consecrator and consecration venue are unestablished, and no conference dimension or commission role, book, pastoral letter, motto, or quotable fragment attributable to him was found.
