The Life

Carlos Alberto Santos García was born on 2 October 1976 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, the third of three children of Miguel M. Santos Gómez and Isabel Guadalupe García González. He studied Ciencias y Humanidades at the Seminario Menor de Monterrey from 1993 to 1994, then the Curso Introductorio and Philosophy at the Seminario Mayor de Monterrey from 1994 to 1998; he took the Bachillerato en Teología from 1998 to 2001 and the Licenciatura en Teología Bíblica from 2001 to 2004 at the Universidad Pontificia de México, and a doctorate in Biblical Theology at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana in Rome, having been sent there in August 2013 and completing the doctorate in June 2017. He was ordained a priest on 15 August 2002 by Cardinal Adolfo Antonio Suárez Rivera, incardinated for Monterrey; the place of his priestly ordination is not stated in the opened sources.

As a priest he served as Vicar of Nuestra Señora Reina de los Ángeles from 2004 to 2005; as Prefect of Discipline and Encargado de Estudios of the Seminario Menor from 2005 to 2009, simultaneously as Sacerdote Auxiliar de Pastoral Vocacional from 2005 to 2010; as Prefect of Discipline and Encargado de Apostolado of the Instituto de Teología of the Seminary of Monterrey from 2009 to 2013; as Secretario General del Seminario from 2012 to 2013; as Professor of Sacred Scripture at the Instituto de Teología and the Seminario Arquidiocesano and at the Escuela Bíblica arquidiocesana from 2004 to 2013 and again from 2017; at the Escuela de Formadores de México, Centroamérica y el Caribe in Morelia from 2009 to 2013; as Administrador Parroquial of Natividad del Señor in Santa Catarina from April to August 2017; as parish priest of San Juan Bosco in Monterrey from August 2017 to January 2021, during which he was Encargado de la Dimensión Intelectual of the Comisión del Clero from 2017 to 2021; as Rector of the Seminario arquidiocesano de Monterrey, named 18 December 2020, and member of the College of Consultors; and, from January 2021, in charge of the Misión Parroquial de San Francisco de Asís in Juárez, Nuevo León.

Pope Francis appointed him Auxiliary Bishop of Monterrey on 13 May 2023, assigning him the titular see of Tamada, and he was consecrated bishop on 26 July 2023. The consecration date is corroborated by two independent spine sources, GCatholic and Catholic-Hierarchy, agreeing exactly; no diocesan or CEM primary source for the date was located, and the consecration venue and consecrators are not established. The archdiocesan page lists him among the auxiliary bishops, confirming he remains active as auxiliary; its Santos García section is a pre-consecration curriculum pasted from the appointment CV, so it is used here as a biographical source only and not as evidence of any office or date after May 2023. In September 2026 he is named as provincial seminary delegate (delegado provincial de Seminarios) for the Monterrey province, concelebrating the opening Mass of the XXVI Encuentro Provincial de Seminarios Mayores at the Seminary of Tampico on 14 September 2026.
