The Life

Cristóbal Ascencio García was born on 25 March 1955 in El Josefino de Allende; no state is stated by the Holy See wire or by GCatholic, and none is added here, since the only source naming Jalisco is a low-tier astrology page. He was ordained priest for the diocese of San Juan de los Lagos on 4 May 1985, the exact day from GCatholic, with the Holy See wire giving the year 1985 only. He holds a licentiate in canon law from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. His San Juan de los Lagos offices, as listed in the wire, were parish priest of the Espíritu Santo parish, prefect and subsequently rector of the major seminary, and judge in the ecclesiastical tribunal and the Appeals Tribunal; at appointment he was parish priest of San Francisco de Asís, Tepatitlán de Morelos. The wire's printed forms Espiritu Santu and Tepatitlan di Morelos are misprints, and the corrected forms are carried here with that flag.

He was appointed bishop of Apatzingán on 17 November 2014, succeeding Miguel Patiño Velázquez, M.S.F., whose age-limit resignation was accepted the same day, and was consecrated bishop on 12 February 2015. No distinct installation or toma de posesion date was found in any search, so the tenure codes from the consecration under the ordinary-consecrated-for-his-see rule; the 17 November 2014 appointment date is not the tenure start, and both GCatholic's tenure-range display and the diocese article's year display use that appointment date, the standard trap, rejected here. His consecrator and the venue are not established, and neither the metropolitan nor the then-nuncio is inferred as principal. He remains bishop of Apatzingán at as_of.

What he inheritedNo decree, permission, restriction, or public statement of his own concerning the 1962 Missal was found for his tenure through as_of. His predecessor Patino Velazquez's tenure ended in 2014, before the Traditionis custodes window, so there is nothing to inherit; no diocesan decree on the 1962 Missal was found. Conference collective acts are never his individual act.
