The Life

Dagoberto Sosa Arriaga was born on 15 April 1955, was ordained a priest of Puebla de los Ángeles on 24 April 1983, was appointed auxiliary bishop of Puebla de los Ángeles, with the titular see of Gummi in Byzacena, on 24 February 2011, and was consecrated bishop on 12 April 2011, so the auxiliary tenure codes from consecration. On 23 February 2013 he was appointed Bishop of Tlapa. The dossier codes the open tenure from that appointment, roster-exact, flagged: the Tlapa possession date is unconfirmed after all search routes, and no possession date is coded on weak evidence, and the tenure is never back-derived from his predecessor's close. He was still Bishop of Tlapa at as_of: he turned 71 on 15 April 2026, and no resignation acceptance or successor news surfaced.

In the CEM he is listed in the June 2023 directorio in entry 66, as Bishop of Tlapa, and as titular representative of the Acapulco province on the Permanent Council, prior triennium only; he was checked against the Prot. 314/24 comunicado for the triennium 2024-2027 and is NOT listed there, checked-and-absent from that document, not no commission ever. In October 2014 he joined the other Guerrero bishops in a letter asking officials to prioritize finding the 43 missing teacher trainees, and in February 2024 he joined the four Guerrero prelates in a joint statement asking leaders to overcome indifference toward those who elected them. Both are collective acts, background only, never his individual acts and never his quotations. In May 2017 he was asked to pay extortion by an organized-crime group but escaped making payment when those making the demands were run off by rivals. That is victimhood, bio prose only, never a controversy; no direct quotation from him appears in the report. CURRENCY WEAKNESS: no 2025 or 2026 opened anchor was found; currency rests on the February 2024 OSV piece, live listings, and the absence of contrary news, and a diocesan-primary anchor is still owed.

The English Wikipedia list of Tlapa ordinaries prints his start year as 2012; that is an error against the 23 February 2013 appointment, never merged. The titular conflict over Lira Rugarcía's see is Lira's dossier's matter, never his; his own titular, Gummi in Byzacena, is uncontested.

The Old Mass, See by See
Tlapa2013-02-23 – presentNo act of his own
What he inheritedOpen tenure spanning the whole Traditionis custodes period; no governing act of his own concerning the 1962 Missal was found for it through as_of, and no statement of his concerning communion with the Society of St. Pius X after the Holy See's 2 July 2026 schism declaration was found. APPOINTMENT-BASIS FLAG, STANDING GAP: the Tlapa possession date is unconfirmed after all search routes, so the tenure codes from the 23 February 2013 appointment, roster-exact, flagged, never presented as possession and never back-derived from his predecessor Domínguez Couttolenc's close. His predecessor left Tlapa in 2012, before the motu proprio, so there are no predecessor TC acts to inherit; the February 2024 peace talks and the 2014 Guerrero letter are pastoral advocacy and collective acts, never TC acts; and no CEM collective act is attributed to him.
Since the SSPX decree of 2 July 2026: No statement recorded as of 2026-10-28.
