The Life

Edwin Oracion Panergo was born September 7, 1971, in Lucena City. He attended high school at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Seminary in Sariaya, studied philosophy at St. Francis de Sales Major Seminary in Lipa, and studied theology at St. Alphonsus School of Theology in Lucena City. He was awarded a licentiate in guidance and counselling from Saint Louis University in Baguio City and a licentiate in theology from the Studium de Notre Dame de Vie in Venasque. His episcopal motto is Synodus, 'Journeying together'.

He was ordained a priest on September 8, 1997, for the Diocese of Lucena, at the Lucena Cathedral. He served as parish vicar of St. Michael the Archangel Basilica in Tayabas from 1997 to 1998, as a member of the Team Ministry of St. Roche in Ilasan from 1998 to 2000, as parish priest of St. Roche in Panaon from 2000 to 2002, as spiritual director of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Seminary in Lucban from 2004 to 2009 and again from 2012 to 2015, and as rector of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Seminary in Sariaya from 2015. He also directed the Diocese of Lucena's Commission on Vocation. He held no prior episcopal tenure; he was appointed Bishop of Boac straight from the seminary rectorship.

Pope Leo XIV appointed him Bishop of Boac on October 4, 2025. He was ordained bishop on December 1, 2025, at St. Ferdinand Cathedral in Lucena City, by Archbishop Gilbert Garcera of Lipa, with Mel Rey Uy of Lucena and retired Emilio Marquez as co-consecrators. He was installed on December 2, 2025, at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Boac, as the diocese's fifth bishop, succeeding Marcelino Maralit, who had been transferred to San Pablo in 2024; Boac had been vacant since November 2024 under diocesan administrator Fr. Elino Esplana.
