The Life

Enrique Díaz Díaz was born on 13 June 1952 in Huandacareo, archdiocese of Morelia; the Exaudi author bio adds Michoacán, and Huandacareo is in Michoacán, so both are carried. He was formed at the archiepiscopal seminary of Morelia and ordained priest for Morelia on 23 October 1977, the Italian bulletin governing over the English bulletin's month-only October 1977. After parish service as vicar and then parish priest in Morelia parishes, he earned a licentiate in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome, in 1994, and on return served as parish priest, lecturer in the archdiocesan seminary, and episcopal vicar of a vast pastoral zone. The Exaudi bio adds the detail: deacon 22 May 1977; chaplain of the Tres Aves Marías rectory; head of diocesan Biblical Pastoral and director of the Morelia Bible School; Bible teacher at the Morelia conciliar seminary; parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Col. Guadalupe, Morelia; and episcopal vicar for the Zona de Nuestra Señora de la Luz, Pátzcuaro.

He was elected titular bishop of Izirzada and auxiliary of San Cristóbal de Las Casas on 30 April 2003 and received episcopal ordination on 10 July 2003; his consecrator and the venue are not established, and Catholic-Hierarchy's lineage head for him, Felipe Arizmendi Esquivel, is not labelled principal consecrator. On 15 May 2014 he was appointed coadjutor bishop of San Cristóbal de Las Casas. He never succeeded there: he was appointed bishop of Irapuato on 11 March 2017 on the resignation of José de Jesús Martínez Zepeda, while Arizmendi remained ordinary until 3 November 2017, when Rodrigo Aguilar Martinez succeeded directly. His coadjutor tenure therefore closes at the Irapuato appointment, not at a succession. He took possession of Irapuato on 19 May 2017, the date carried by the roster's diocesan pastoral-plan citation and independently stated in the Exaudi author bio. Within the Mexican Episcopal Conference he served on the commissions for Bible, Diaconate, and Lay Ministries, was responsible for the Lay Ministries dimension and for Education and Culture, took part in the 2008 Synod of Bishops on the Word of God in Rome, and is currently responsible for the Dimension of Pastoral of Culture.

His recurring daily and Sunday Scripture reflections, including the diocesan La Palabra de Hoy series, are ongoing ministry, not a discrete work, and no book or solely-his pastoral letter was found.

Reflection by Bishop Enrique Diaz: My flesh is true food and my blood is true drink — Exaudi · 2026Corpus Christi reflection, 4 June 2026, published in English by Exaudi; Spanish original not opened, so the shipped quote carries an English-rendering caveat. Its author bio block corroborates the Irapuato possession: appointed 11 March, took possession 19 May. Caution: the body twice mislabels the reigning pope (Leo X, then Leo XIII, where Leo XIV is meant); the shipped fragment does not contain the error, and nothing further is quoted from this piece.
