Francisco González Ramos
Francisco González Ramos was born in Pueblo Nuevo, Guanajuato, on 17 August 1958, and received his initial formation in the seminary of the Archdiocese of León. He was ordained a priest on 18 July 1982 for León and passed to the clergy of the new Diocese of Irapuato in 2004. His degree is in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. His formation offices, as the Holy See bulletin gives them, were prefect of discipline in the minor and major seminaries and professor in the major seminary of León; from 1997 he was parish priest of Espíritu Santo and a member of the pastoral and government councils, and at his appointment he was rector of the major seminary of Irapuato and dean.
On 9 June 2014 Pope Francis erected the Diocese of Izcalli, with territory dismembered from the Diocese of Cuautitlán, as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Tlalnepantla, and named González Ramos its first bishop. He was consecrated bishop on 22 August 2014; no separate installation or toma de posesión distinct from the consecration was found, and the coded start is the consecration under the first-see rule, never the 9 June appointment. At erection the diocese counted 33 parishes, 966,836 inhabitants, 821,351 Catholics, 64 priests, 19 seminarians, and 75 religious sisters, across the municipalities of Nicolás Romero, Tepotzotlán, and Cuautitlán Izcalli. The bulletin reproduction prints 'Nicolás Repetto' for the first municipality and 'Irapueato' for Irapuato; both are errors, flagged here, never repeated. No area figure is asserted: the reproduction prints '2 533 km2,' where the '2' reads as a stray list numeral, and no citable source was opened for the figure. His consecrator and the consecration venue are unestablished, and a diocesan-primary consecration report is still owed; the former diocesan site no longer loads. In active ministry in 2024, he ordained Bernardino López Francisco and José Manuel Lujano Miranda deacons on 31 July 2024 at the María Inmaculada Friary, Cuautitlán Izcalli; the OFMConv report paraphrases his homily, celibacy focus, and gives no verbatim quotation. No book, signed pastoral letter, interview, or homily text of his was located, and no motto string was found in any tier; nothing is held and nothing is asserted.
