Gerardo de Jesús Rojas López
Gerardo de Jesús Rojas López was born on 13 April 1957 in Teocaltiche, Jalisco. He was formed at Aguascalientes and then at Ciudad Juárez, was ordained a deacon on 19 March 1983, and was ordained a priest on 16 September 1983 by Manuel Talamás Camandari. He took a licentiate in Canon Law at Navarra in 1992-1994, was vicar general of Ciudad Juárez from 2001 to 2004, parish priest of Santa Cecilia, of Nuestra Señora del Pilar, of San Miguel Arcángel and of El Señor de la Misericordia, and a member of the Tribunal and secretary-chancellor. On 22 May 2004 John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Nuevo Casas Grandes, and he was consecrated bishop on 4 August 2004 by Renato Ascencio León, with Nuncio Giuseppe Bertello and Hilario Chávez Joya as co-consecrators. No separate Nuevo Casas Grandes installation date is established, so the tenure starts at consecration per corpus rule; his successor there, Jesús José Herrera Quiñónez, has no established succession date and none is dated.
On 7 December 2010 he was appointed Bishop of Tabasco, and he took possession on 19 January 2011 in Villahermosa, at the Catedral del Señor de Tabasco, with Nuncio Christophe Pierre and CEM president Carlos Aguiar Retes present, signing the possession book, then canonical possession before some 15,000 people at Parque Tabasco, as the XIII bishop of Tabasco. The handover was not direct from his predecessor: Benjamín Castillo Plascencia, Tabasco bishop from 8 February 2003, was named Bishop of Celaya on 29 April 2010 (possession 23 June 2010) and administered Tabasco sede vacante until 19 January 2011, so there was no governance gap and the bio carries the administrator framing, not a bare succession. Castillo died on 13 April 2026; his Celaya successor is Víctor Alejandro Aguilar Ledesma. In October 2026 he spoke publicly on the Unión de Crédito Ganadero fraud (some 350 million pesos), road order after fatal accidents, Pemex odors in the zona Agave, officials quitting early to seek candidacies, peaceful electoral contest, youth mental health and Grupo Naím; that civic advocacy is bio prose, never a controversy. He was still Bishop of Tabasco at as_of, having turned 69 on 13 April 2026.
The Yucatán notification of November 2023 belongs to Rodríguez Vega's archdiocese, not his; the Guadalajara decree belongs to Robles Ortega; and CEM collective statements are never his own acts. The Spanish Wikipedia infobox range end '7 de diciembre de 2010' for Nuevo Casas Grandes is the Tabasco appointment date in display convention, not the tenure close, which is the 19 January 2011 Tabasco possession per canon 418 section 1.
