The Life

Glenn Montebon Corsiga was born on January 21, 1965, in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. He was a management graduate of St. Paul University Dumaguete before entering St. Joseph Seminary College, where he studied philosophy, and then the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay, where he studied theology. He later earned a master's degree in development communication from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. The Diocese of Dumaguete ordained him a priest on December 14, 1993.

As a priest of Dumaguete he was parochial vicar of Sta. Catherine of Alexandria in Dumaguete from 1993 to 1994 and of Sta. Clara de Montefalco in Pasay from 1994 to 1997, spiritual director of St. Joseph Seminary College from 1997 to 2002, and chaplain of St. Paul University in Dumaguete from 1998 to 2006. He was vice chancellor of the diocese from 2000 to 2001, vice rector of the seminary from 2001 to 2002, and rector of the seminary from 2002 to 2014. Pope Benedict XVI named him a papal chaplain in 2011. He was parish priest of St. James the Greater in Tanjay from 2014 to 2020 and Episcopal Vicar for the North District from 2014 to 2017, vicar general of the diocese from 2017, and parish priest of St. Augustine of Hippo Parish in Bacong from 2020 until his appointment as bishop.

On April 14, 2025, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Ipil, in Zamboanga Sibugay. He was the last Filipino bishop appointed by Francis, a week before the pontiff's death. He was consecrated on July 29, 2025, at Saint Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral in Dumaguete City, with Archbishop Julius Tonel, his predecessor as Bishop of Ipil, as principal consecrator and Archbishop John Du of Palo and Bishop Julito Cortes of Dumaguete as co-consecrators. He was formally installed on August 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., by Archbishop Charles John Brown, Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines. He succeeded Tonel, who had been transferred to Zamboanga in August 2023; the see had been vacant for nearly two years, under the care of Msgr. Elizar Cielo as diocesan administrator, a priest-administrator and not a Corsiga tenure. His episcopal motto is Amare et Servire, 'To Love and to Serve.' The Diocese of Ipil, in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, had a population of 778,111 as of 2024.

Major Works & Initiatives
Interfaith-collaboration interview, August 4, 2025
Between his July 29 episcopal ordination and his August 14 installation, Corsiga told the Philippine News Agency he was ready to take on peace and reconciliation in conflict areas but could not do it alone, stressing the good relationship between the Church and the government and looking forward to a relationship with other religions present in Zamboanga Sibugay, especially the Muslim community. He also said he wished to reestablish a bishop-and-ulama movement that was no longer working actively, so as to coexist and work with Muslim leaders in the service of the people. A pastoral interview, not a Traditionis custodes act.
Appointment response, April 15, 2025
On learning of his April 14 appointment, the bishop-elect told reporters he was overwhelmed and humbled by the appointment and asked for prayers and support as bishop of Ipil. A pre-episcopate appointment response, not a Traditionis custodes act.
