Guadalupe Antonio Ruíz Urquín
Guadalupe Antonio Ruíz Urquín was born on 21 April 1971 in Tapilula, Chiapas, and was formed in the seminaries of San Juan de los Lagos and Tuxtla. He was ordained a deacon on 11 February 1996 and a priest on 19 March 1997, incardinated in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, and took a licentiate in theology from ITEPAL, Bogotá, and then a doctorate from the Pontifical Lateran University. As a priest he was professor, vice rector and rector of the seminary, chaplain of the rectory of Saint Judas Thaddeus in Tuxtla, rector of the John Paul II Catholic University in Tuxtla, and responsible for the continuing formation of the clergy and vicar enrolled in the Metropolitan Cathedral. On 27 June 2020 the Holy See appointed him bishop prelate of Huautla, and he was consecrated bishop on 24 September 2020 for that see, so the Huautla tenure codes from consecration, no separate installation being established. In the CEM he is Responsable de la D.E. Doctrina de la Fe for the triennium 2024-2027.
Since 1 May 2026 he has also been Apostolic Administrator of Tuxtepec, concurrent with Huautla; the administration does not close or affect the Huautla tenure, and the cause of the Tuxtepec vacancy is not asserted in this bio prose. His Huautla predecessor in the ordinary line was José Armando Álvarez Cano, Huautla 2011-2019, who went to Tampico in 2019, not directly to Morelia; the see was then vacant for about thirteen months, from May 2019 to June 2020, and no administrator for that vacancy is established or asserted. He was still Prelate of Huautla and Apostolic Administrator of Tuxtepec at as_of.
