The Life

Jaime Calderón Calderón was born on 1 May 1966 at Churintzio, in the Diocese of Zamora, matching the roster birth date; the bulletin states no civil state, so none is added on bulletin authority. He was ordained a priest on 16 February 1991, incardinated in the Diocese of Zamora. He took the licentiate in philosophy from the Universidad Pontificia de Mexico and the doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome. The bulletin lists his offices, undated, as parish vicar; prefect, vice-rector, and rector of the Major Seminary of Zamora; coordinator of the Presbyteral Council; secretary of the College of Consultors; judge in the ecclesiastical tribunal; and president of the Organization of Mexican Seminaries. He is a member of the Permanent Board of the Episcopal Conference of Mexico and of the General Secretariat of the Synod; those are conference roles, not tenures. On 5 July 2012 he was appointed titular bishop of Iomnium (the Italian bulletin prints 'Giomnio,' a language variant) and auxiliary of Zamora, and was consecrated on 5 October 2012.

His Zamora auxiliary tenure closes at his appointment to Tapachula. DATE CONFLICT, flagged: the 2024 Holy See bulletin curriculum gives 9 July 2018 for the Tapachula appointment, but GCatholic's nominations list (opened) dates the appointment 7 July 2018, Catholic-Hierarchy agrees, and the original July 2018 bulletin was not opened to settle it; this dossier codes 7 July 2018, the date carried by the two secondary listings that track bulletin dates, with the bulletin curriculum's 9 July recorded as the variant. He took possession of Tapachula on 14 September 2018 (Catholic-Hierarchy spine; a Tapachula diocesan primary is still owed). On 4 July 2024 the Holy See appointed him metropolitan archbishop of León on the resignation of Alfonso Cortés Contreras, and he took possession on 19 August 2024 (roster citation, spine tier; a diocesan post-event source was not found - the Diocese of Zamora article and the Milenio piece cited in secondary references were not opened). Wikipedia names Christophe Pierre as his principal consecrator on 5 October 2012, with Gabriel Montalvo Higuera and José Esaul Robles Jiménez as co-consecrators, and names Robles Jiménez as his priestly ordainer at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Zamora; all of that is Wikipedia-attributed, not asserted. Wikipedia's succession-table line listing Christophe Pierre as consecrated by Calderón in 2015 is inverted nonsense and is not carried.

No motto is asserted: Wikipedia's infobox motto, 'Trusting in you, lord (Proverbs 3:5-6),' is recorded as HELD in the reference note, not in prose. Wikipedia's report that he is CEM vice president for 2024-2027, citing a CEM directory PDF, was not independently confirmed and is not asserted.

León2024-08-19 – presentNo act of his own
What he inheritedHe has governed León since 19 August 2024; no decree, permission, restriction, or public statement of his own concerning the 1962 Missal was found for León through as_of. No predecessor's TC act is coded as his, and no CEM collective statement is his individual act. Not checkable in this pass: a diocesan post-event source for the 19 August 2024 possession (the Diocese of Zamora article and the Milenio piece cited in secondary references were not opened), and any León diocesan liturgical disposition recorded only in a diocesan bulletin or unindexed register.

Resignations and Appointments, 4 July 2024 — Holy See Press Office · 2024PRIMARY, same bulletin in English. The English curriculum omits the year in the birth sentence ('born on 1 May in Churintzio'); the Italian gives 1 May 1966, which governs with the roster. Titular spelling Iomnium (English) vs Giomnio (Italian) is a language variant; Iomnium is coded.

Year 2018, September, Bishop Events — Catholic-Hierarchy · 2018SPINE. 14 Sep block: 'Installed | Jaime Calderón Calderón | Bishop of Tapachula, Chiapas, México.' Source of the coded Tapachula possession date; a Tapachula diocesan primary is still owed.

Nominations and Resignations, 2018 — GCatholic · 2018SPINE. 2018.07.07 entry: 'Bishop Jaime Calderón Calderón, Titular Bishop of Iomnium and Auxiliary Bishop of Zamora (Mexico), was appointed as Bishop of Tapachula (Mexico).' Basis for the coded 7 July 2018 Zamora close; the 2024 bulletin curriculum's 9 July 2018 is recorded as the variant, and the original July 2018 bulletin was not opened. Incidental: the same page's 2018.07.20 entry appoints Rogelio Cabrera López apostolic administrator of Tampico - a lead for a possible Cabrera dossier follow-up, not verified beyond this row.

Jaime Calderón Calderón — WikipediaSECONDARY, attributed-only. Infobox/body supply: priestly ordainer José Esaul Robles Jiménez and place (Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Zamora); principal consecrator Christophe Pierre with co-consecrators Gabriel Montalvo Higuera and José Esaul Robles Jiménez (5 October 2012); HELD motto 'Trusting in you, lord (Proverbs 3:5-6)' (infobox only, not in bio prose); CEM vice presidency 2024-2027 (citing a CEM directory PDF, not independently confirmed, not asserted). NOT carried: 'Xavier Xubiri' (misspelling of Zubiri); the succession-table line listing Christophe Pierre as consecrated by Calderón in 2015 (inverted); infobox tenure ranges (appointment-bracketed). The article's Diocese of Zamora 'Toma de Posesión' (23 Aug 2024) and Milenio (19 Aug 2024) references were not opened, so the León possession stays spine-tier.

PhilPapers carries the same entry.
