Joel Ocampo Gorostieta
Joel Ocampo Gorostieta was born in El Paso de Tierra Caliente, diocese of Tacámbaro, on 21 August 1963; no civil state is stated in the bulletin, and none is added here. After studies at the diocesan seminary of Tacámbaro, he was ordained a priest on 15 April 1989, and was awarded a licentiate in theology of marriage and the family at the Pontifical Lateran University, Rome. His undated offices were parish vicar, head of youth and vocational pastoral care, episcopal vicar for consecrated life, diocesan pastoral coordinator of Tacámbaro, parish priest of various communities, and member of the ecclesiastical tribunal. The English bulletin misprints the seminary and diocese as Tacámburo twice; the Spanish bulletin spells Tacámbaro, which is carried here.
He was appointed bishop of Ciudad Altamirano on 2 April 2019, receiving episcopal consecration on 9 July 2019, and was a priest of Tacámbaro until that appointment, holding no earlier tenure. No distinct installation for Ciudad Altamirano is separately established, so that tenure codes from consecration. GCatholic lists Maximino Martínez Miranda (2006-2017) as the preceding ordinary of Ciudad Altamirano. He was appointed bishop of Zamora on 20 November 2025, on the resignation of Javier Navarro Rodríguez, and took canonical possession on 20 January 2026 at Zamora Cathedral, with Nuncio Joseph Spiteri present, followed by a procession to the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, where the possession was solemnly completed. His first message to the Zamora community appears in the Government of Zamora report as paraphrase only, on unity, justice, and peace, with no direct quotation, so no quote ships from it.
The metropolitan of Acapulco is not inferred as his consecrator, and no consecrator or consecration venue is asserted.
