The Life

Jorge Cuapio Bautista was born in Santa Ana Chiautempan, Tlaxcala, on 6 April 1967, the third of nine children of Pascual Ascensión Cuapio and Sara Bautista Gijón. The Holy See bulletin gives Santa Ana Chiautempan as his birthplace and governs here; the archdiocesan paper Desde la Fe gives San Francisco Tetlanohcan, a different Tlaxcala municipality, and that variant is footnoted, not merged. He was ordained a priest on 15 August 1992, incardinated into the diocese of Texcoco, and belongs to the Community of the Missionaries of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. His degrees, as the bulletin gives them, are a licentiate in philosophy from the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla and a licentiate in family sciences from the John Paul II Institute in Rome. His priestly offices, as the CELAM-sourced Exaudi report gives them, were parish vicar, parish priest, member of the presbyteral council and of the college of consultors, and philosophy professor at the Texcoco major seminary. Exaudi's theology dates of 1984 to 1988 are not carried as stated: against a 1967 birth they would put him in theology at seventeen, and the bulletin licentiates govern.

He was appointed titular bishop of Bisarcio and auxiliary bishop of Tlalnepantla on 4 March 2015, and was consecrated bishop on 27 May 2015 by Carlos Aguiar Retes, then Archbishop of Tlalnepantla, as the archdiocesan identidad page states, por manos de Mons. Carlos Aguiar Retes; his co-consecrators and the consecration venue are unestablished, and the Tlalnepantla cathedral is not inferred as venue. He was appointed bishop of Iztapalapa on 14 August 2021, on the resignation of the first bishop, Jesús Antonio Lerma Nolasco, and took possession on 11 October 2021; he is the second bishop of Iztapalapa. No distinct installation as auxiliary is attested, and no vacancy administration by him is recorded. His episcopal motto is Comunión, don del Señor, Communion, gift of the Lord, asserted here on the archdiocesan paper Desde la Fe, which states the motto and reports his gloss in paraphrase, corroborated by Wikipedia and GCatholic with the same string without the comma; the distinction from a motto in his own verbatim words is recorded in the reference note, so the assertion can be downgraded to held if a stricter bar is wanted. His pastoral priority in Iztapalapa, as Desde la Fe presents it, is the family as the foundation of harmonious social coexistence and a key against delincuencia, in a diocese counted among the three most violent alcaldías of the capital.

The diocese of Iztapalapa was announced on 28 September 2019 by CEM communiqué and solemnly erected on 5 November 2019 by Nuncio Franco Coppola, by the bull Qui mandavit, AAS 111 (2019) page 1507; the two dates are real and distinct and are not collapsed. It is suffragan of Mexico, has its cathedral at the Santuario Nacional de Nuestro Señor de La Cuevita, covers 117 square kilometres, and counted 101 parishes in 2021. His conference roles are background only: he is responsible for the Episcopal Dimension of Youth Pastoral in the 19 March 2025 peace call, a multi-signatory document, and any adolescent-pastoral responsibility years rest on search-rendered documents only and are not asserted. The DEMPAJ youth subsidio and the 2025 peace call are collectives, not works, and his regular homilies are ministry, not works.

In His Own Words
The Old Mass, See by See
Iztapalapa2021-10-11 – presentNo act of his own
What he inheritedOpen tenure falling entirely inside the Traditionis custodes window; no governing act of his own concerning the 1962 Missal was found for it through as_of. His CEM youth and adolescent roles are conference offices, never individual acts, and the 2025 peace call is collective, not TC-relevant. A diocesan-primary possession report is still owed; the open tenure rides on the CH spine plus the roster.
