Jose Alan Verdejo Dialogo
Jose Alan Verdejo Dialogo was born July 10, 1962, in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur. The Holy See bulletin for his appointment prints the birthplace as “Lagonoy, Camarines Norte, in the diocese of Daet,” a geographically confused wording: Lagonoy is in Camarines Sur, and a Dominus Est profile says he hails from Naga, Camarines Sur. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nueva Caceres, studied philosophy and theology at Holy Apostles Senior Seminary, and earned a licentiate in spirituality at the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1999. A diocesan profile’s account of a bachelor’s degree in public administration and a master’s degree in psychology conflicts with the bulletin; the bulletin version is followed here.
He was ordained a priest for Manila on July 31, 1996; the bulletin names no ordaining bishop. His posts included parochial vicar at San Roque, Mandaluyong (1996-1997); vice-rector and dean of seminarians at Holy Apostles Senior Seminary, Guadalupe, Makati (1999-2002); rector of the same seminary (2003-2008); parish priest of St. John of the Cross, Pembo, Makati (2008-2015); and director of the Cardinal Sin Welcome Home in Manila from 2015. Before his episcopate he helped establish the Manto Nin Pagkamoot (Mantle of Love) Children’s Foundation, Inc., for underprivileged children in Naga.
Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sorsogon on October 15, 2019, succeeding Arturo Bastes, who retired at 75; Bastes served as apostolic administrator sede vacante until Dialogo assumed office. He was ordained a bishop on December 12, 2019, at the Manila Cathedral, with Cardinal Tagle as principal consecrator, and installed on December 14, 2019, at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Sorsogon City, with Archbishop Tirona leading the installation; both the ordination and installation dates rest on Wikipedia alone, three targeted searches having found no non-Wikipedia installation report. He is the diocese’s fifth bishop. A motto of “Fiat” appears on Wikipedia only and is not shipped here.
No decree, permission, suppression, expansion, or transfer of the Traditional Latin Mass by Bishop Dialogo in Sorsogon was found in the searches listed.
A 2008 survey lists a Sunday Traditional Latin Mass at Aemilianum College, Sorsogon City, under Fr. Abraham Arganiosa, CRS; that listing predates his episcopate and is baseline context only, not an act of his.
