The Life

José Alberto González Juárez was born on 19 December 1967 in El Parral, Villacorzo, Chiapas. He entered the seminary of the Inmaculada Concepción, San Juan de los Lagos, in 1986, studied at the seminary of Santa María de Guadalupe, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, from 1993 to 1995, and took a licentiate in Philosophy at the Universidad Pontificia de México from 1999 to 2001. He was ordained a priest on 8 December 1995 for the archdiocese of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. As a priest he was discipline auxiliary and philosophy professor at the Tuxtla seminary (1995-1996), parish vicar of San Fernando (1996-1998), parish administrator of Divina Providencia (1998-1999), spiritual director and professor of the Introductory Course at Santa María de Guadalupe (1998-1999), advisor, professor and prefect of Philosophy there (2001-2008), Rector there (2008-2012), Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Tuxtla Gutiérrez (2012-2013), episcopal vicar for the Clergy and consecrated life (2013-2015), and parish priest of the Inmaculada Concepción (2014-2015).

On 6 June 2015 Francis appointed him Bishop of Tuxtepec, and his episcopal ordination and toma de posesión of the diocese were on 22 July 2015; his consecrator and the consecration venue are not established, and neither is inferred. He was the first bishop of his line from an unbroken priestly career, with no auxiliary tenure before Tuxtepec. In the CEM he was suplente of the Permanent Council for the Oaxaca province for the triennium 2024-2027; he holds no 2024-2027 CEM commission (checked-and-absent). On 11 February 2026 Leo XIV appointed him XV Bishop of Campeche, and he took possession on 1 May 2026 at the Santa Iglesia Catedral in Campeche, after a vacancy of about one year since his predecessor José Francisco González González took possession at Tuxtla Gutiérrez on 25 April 2025; the vacancy administrator at Campeche is not established and none is assumed, and no administration tenure arises for him at Campeche before 1 May 2026. He was still Bishop of Campeche at as_of, aged 58.

The 2026 FRICYDIM suppression items name González González, never him, and no FRICYDIM item is recorded for him. The June 2023 CEM directorio birth date of 17 December 1967 is a variant, flagged in the CEM reference note; the shipped birth date is 19 December 1967, per the roster, the Holy See bulletin and the Nunciature communiqué.

Comisiones Episcopales de la CEM, Trienio 2024-2027 (Prot. 314/24) — CEM · 2024Checked-and-absent: find 'González Juárez' returns no match; he holds no 2024-2027 commission. The Prot. 'Juárez' hit is Juan Pedro Juárez Meléndez (Tula), a different man. Prot. contains no Permanent Council section, so the ACN Permanent Council claim is not contradicted.
