The Life

Jose Colin Mendoza Bagaforo was born on January 30, 1954, in Cotabato City. He studied philosophy at Notre Dame Seminary in Cotabato and theology at St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary in Davao City, and he later specialized in systematic theology at the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1990 to 1991, at Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro in 1994, and in pedagogy at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati in 2003. He was ordained a priest on March 25, 1980, for the Archdiocese of Cotabato; no ordaining bishop is established anywhere seen, so none is shipped. His posts included assistant priest in Tacurong City for two years; superintendent of archdiocesan schools to 1990 and at the same time spiritual director at Notre Dame Seminary in Cotabato for two years; parish priest of Cotabato Cathedral from 1991 to 1997; pastor in Tacurong City from 1997 to 1999; pastor in Maguindanao from 1999 to 2001; treasurer of the archdiocese from 2001 to 2002; president of Notre Dame of Tacurong College from 2002; and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Cotabato from 2004. He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cotabato and titular Bishop of Vazari-Didda on February 2, 2006, and consecrated on April 25, 2006; Vatican Radio confirms the date only, and the principal, Quevedo, and co-consecrators, Capalla and Lagdameo, are Wikipedia and Catholic-Hierarchy only and are not shipped. His motto 'Semper vobiscum', Latin for 'Always with you', is Wikipedia-only and is not shipped. Wikipedia's infobox misprint 'Saint Francis Regional Major University' is not copied, and its 'president of Caritas Philippines since 2019' is stale: he served as Caritas Philippines president from July 2019, was reelected in July 2023, and was succeeded by Gerardo Alminaza at the 130th plenary in Anda in July 2025, where he was also designated Eastern Mindanao regional representative and head of the CBCP Committee on Inter-religious Dialogue, the dialogue leadership confirmed by the Davao Catholic Herald's December 2025 piece.

On July 25, 2016, he was appointed Bishop of Kidapawan, and he was installed on September 6, 2016, matching the roster row. The installation day is Wikipedia-only so far; the SunStar citation was not recovered, and no stronger opened source exists for a dossier-only from_source swap, so the roster source stands and the day is flagged. His predecessor, Romulo T. de la Cruz, held Kidapawan from May 14, 2008, to March 15, 2014, when he was appointed Archbishop of Zamboanga; the 2014 to 2016 gap and any administrator are not established and are not needed for the chain. Kidapawan's cathedral is Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces, and the diocese counted close to 1 million people, about half Catholic, served by some 35 priests and 50 religious at his appointment. In December 2025 he was elected co-president of Pax Christi International with Kenyan Sr. Wamuyu Wachira, succeeding Bishop Emeritus Marc Stenger of Troyes, for three years, at the movement's 80th Anniversary World Gathering in Florence, Italy, from November 5 to 9, 2025. A January 26, 2021 CBCP Monitor charter-change statement signed by Bagaforo as chairman, with Alminaza as vice-chairman and Casicas as secretary, is pre-window and collective, so it is context only, never a window work and never Bagaforo's alone.

In the window, no governing act of his own concerning the 1962 Missal was found. His window record is social-action leadership and peace work: an April 2022 interview as head of the CBCP social-action arm and lead convenor of a faith-based coalition for clean elections, urging candidates to turn from disinformation and present platforms with truth and honesty, and the December 2025 Pax Christi co-presidency. The later section of the April 2022 interview quotes vice-presidential candidate Pangilinan and Fr. Ian Maniago; those are not Bagaforo's words and are not shipped. A March 2025 response to the Duterte arrest, summarized on Wikipedia from CBCP News and GMA, is omitted from this dossier: the CBCP News URL was not recovered, cbcpnews.net being domain-blocked for text fetch, and the plural headline leaves individual attribution unverified, so it stays out until a live-browser recovery.

Major Works & Initiatives
Interview on disinformation and clean elections, April 19, 2022
As head of the CBCP social-action arm and lead convenor of a faith-based coalition for clean elections, interviewed over Radio Veritas 846 on April 18, Bagaforo urged candidates to turn from disinformation and to present platforms with truth and honesty. A pastoral advocacy act, not a Traditionis custodes act.
Election as co-president of Pax Christi International, December 2025
Bagaforo was elected co-president of Pax Christi International with Kenyan Sr. Wamuyu Wachira, succeeding Bishop Emeritus Marc Stenger of Troyes, for three years, at the movement's 80th Anniversary World Gathering in Florence, Italy. The Herald piece also notes in prose that he has spoken out against corruption amid the investigation into anomalous flood-control projects; no direct quotation on that point appears in the piece. A peace-movement office, not a Traditionis custodes act.
