José de Jesús González Hernández
José de Jesús González Hernández was born on 25 December 1964 in Etzatlán, Jalisco, and entered the Order of Friars Minor. He made his first profession on 15 August 1987 and his solemn profession on 18 October 1992, and was ordained a priest on 29 June 1994. He served in Mexico, the Holy Land, Sweden, Belgium and Mozambique, including as parish priest of Inhambane Cathedral, and was head of the Indigenous Pastoral Dimension of the Mexican Episcopal Conference and a member of CICLSAL. On 27 February 2010 the Holy See appointed him Bishop-Prelate of Jesús María, and he was ordained bishop on 25 May 2010 in the Cathedral of Jesús María, El Nayar. On 11 February 2022 he was appointed Bishop of Chilpancingo-Chilapa, and he was installed on 19 April 2022.
In February 2024 he took part, with three fellow bishops, in negotiations toward a possible peace accord between rival criminal groups in Guerrero, talks he himself disclosed publicly; the effort failed over territorial conditions. That is pastoral advocacy, bio prose only, never a controversy. During his Jesús María years his van came under gunfire; he escaped unharmed. That is victimhood, bio prose only, never a controversy. He was still Bishop of Chilpancingo-Chilapa at as_of: he was 61, turning 62 on 25 December 2026, and the diocesan site names him its fifteenth bishop and carries a Comunicado 26/26 dated 21 October 2026 signed by him as bishop, with a further diocesan letter of 25 September 2026, a 2026 diocesan-primary currency anchor of unusual strength. In the CEM he is listed in the June 2023 directorio in entry 35; his Indigenous Pastoral Dimension role is prior-triennium only, and he was checked against the Prot. 314/24 comunicado for the triennium 2024-2027 and is NOT listed there, checked-and-absent from that document, not no commission ever.
