José Guadalupe Torres Campos
José Guadalupe Torres Campos was born in León, Guanajuato, on 19 January 1960, the fifth of fifteen siblings, and entered the León seminary in 1972, studying there until 1984. He was ordained a priest on 2 July 1984 in the León Cathedral Basilica and incardinated into the diocese of Irapuato. The Holy See bulletin prints 2 June 1984 for the ordination; July governs here, carried by the Liberal Metropolitano report with the place and by the ICMC profile, and the bulletin variant is footnoted, not printed. His degree is a licentiate in Church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, dated 1988 by the Liberal report. His priestly offices, as the Liberal report gives them, were professor of Patrology and Church history, prefect, private secretary, ecclesiastical notary, and tribunal chancellor; he was episcopal vicar of the Irapuato zone from 1998 to 2003 and Vicar General of Irapuato from 2004 to 2005, and the ICMC profile has him parish priest in Irapuato until December 2005.
He was appointed titular bishop of Quiza and auxiliary bishop of Ciudad Juárez on 10 December, the bulletin giving no year and context giving 2005, and was consecrated bishop on 22 February 2006. The bulletin names no consecrator; the ICMC profile attributes the consecration to Renato Ascensio León, spelled with an s as printed, and that attribution is carried as ICMC-attributed, not as bulletin-confirmed. He was appointed bishop of Ciudad Juárez on 20 December 2014 and took canonical possession on 20 February 2015, a date carried by the Liberal report alone, flagged as single-source. He was appointed bishop of Ecatepec on 13 May 2026 and installed as its third bishop on 22 July 2026; the roster source, the Liberal report of 18 July 2026, is pre-ceremony, and the post-ceremony corroboration is the Gloria.tv installation report, which is the dossier source for the open tenure by the dossier-only upgrade precedent, the roster itself unchanged. A diocesan-primary post-ceremony report is still owed. At takeover Ecatepec counted 99 parishes, 14 deaneries, about 140 priests, and about 204 square kilometres, covering Ecatepec de Morelos and eastern Tlalnepantla de Baz. His predecessor at Ecatepec was Óscar Roberto Domínguez Couttolenc, M.G., appointed 17 July 2012 and in possession 17 September 2012, appointed Archbishop of Tulancingo on 3 July 2024 and installed there 29 August 2024, leaving Ecatepec vacant about two years; no Ecatepec diocesan administrator was established and none is invented. The Liberal report's claim that his episcopal career began formally on 25 November 2008 omits the auxiliary tenure entirely and is false by omission; the auxiliary tenure is bulletin-established and is coded.
His conference roles are background only: the Liberal report names him a member of the CEM Permanent Council and head of its Justice, Peace and Reconciliation and Human Mobility dimensions, and the ICMC profile names him President of the CEM Episcopal Commission for Pastoral Care of Human Mobility. He concelebrated the 17 February 2016 border Mass with Francis at Ciudad Juárez, press tier, background. His public record in the Traditionis custodes window is migrant and human-mobility advocacy, not liturgical governance; that advocacy is background, never a Traditionis custodes act. No book with a bibliographic anchor was found, and no motto string was found in any opened source or search; nothing is held and nothing is asserted.
