The Life

José Luis Mendoza Corzo was born on 4 January 1960 in the colonia Cristóbal Obregón, Villaflores, Chiapas, the son of Manuel Mendoza and Rosario Corzo, of campesino origin. He was formed at the conciliar seminary of Tuxtla Gutiérrez and was ordained a priest on 7 February 1988 by Sepúlveda Ruiz-Velasco. He was vicario parroquial of the Sagrario Diocesano and asesor of the Pastoral Juvenil Diocesana, and took a licentiate in pastoral theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He was Prefect of Theology, econome and professor of the Seminario Mayor and vicario de pastoral, and in 1999-2007 he was episcopal vicar for pastoral care (1999-2002), curia chancellor (2002-2004), parish priest (2004-2007) and vicar general (2005-2007) (PL Wikipedia tier).

On 23 March 2007 Benedict XVI appointed him auxiliary bishop of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, titular bishop of Lamiggiga, and he was consecrated bishop on 8 May 2007 by Rogelio Cabrera López, with Sepúlveda Ruiz-Velasco and Aguirre Franco as co-consecrators. The consecration date is corroborated by the CEM directorio and by Catholic-Hierarchy; the consecration venue is not established and none is inferred. He has served as auxiliary under ordinaries Cabrera López (to 2012), Martínez Castilla (2013-2023), the Aguilar Martínez administration (2023-2025) and González González (from 25 April 2025); none of their acts transfer to him. He was still auxiliary bishop of Tuxtla Gutiérrez at as_of, aged 66, turning 67 on 4 January 2027, and he holds no 2024-2027 CEM commission (checked-and-absent).

What he inheritedAuxiliary since 2007 under four ordinaries and administrations (Cabrera López, Martínez Castilla, the Aguilar Martínez administration, González González); the Tuxtla archdiocese's post-2021 liturgical governance rests with the ordinary, and no governing act of Mendoza Corzo's own was found in the 16 July 2021 to present window. Conference-collective acts are never his; predecessors' acts are inherited prose only.
Since the SSPX decree of 2 July 2026: No statement recorded as of 2026-10-28.
