The Life

Leopoldo González González was born on 31 October 1950, was ordained a priest on 23 November 1975 for the archdiocese of Morelia, was appointed titular bishop of Voncaria and auxiliary bishop of Morelia on 18 March 1999, and was consecrated bishop on 19 May 1999, so the auxiliary tenure codes from consecration, he having been a priest at appointment. On 9 June 2005 he was appointed Bishop of Tapachula, and on 30 June 2017 he was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Acapulco, taking possession of Acapulco on 29 August 2017, roster-exact, so the auxiliary tenure closes at the 9 June 2005 appointment under the auxiliary-close rule and the Tapachula tenure closes at the 29 August 2017 possession under the transfer-close rule. He was still Archbishop of Acapulco at as_of: he was 75, turning 76 on 31 October 2026 on the roster date, after as_of, and no resignation acceptance or successor news surfaced in any source, so no close is coded. He is diocesan clergy of Morelia; he has no religious congregation and no post-nominal initials.

After Hurricane Otis struck Acapulco as a Category-5 storm in the early hours of 25 October 2023, damaging the seminary and religious houses, he issued a statement read on 29 October 2023 in a video posted on the archdiocese's Facebook page, calling the faithful to help their brothers in need; the death toll stood at at least 43 per TV Azteca at the time of the report. That is pastoral disaster response, bio prose only, never a controversy and never a Traditionis custodes act.

WEAKEST LINK: the Acapulco possession of 29 August 2017 rests on the English Wikipedia individual article's infobox alone, above Wikipedia tier nothing corroborates it: Catholic-Hierarchy's August 2017 block carries no González line at all, parent-confirmed, and no diocesan-primary, ACI, Desde la Fe, or press installation report surfaced in five search rounds. His Acapulco predecessor Carlos Garfias Merlos served 2010-2016 and then went to Morelia, leaving the see vacant November 2016 to June 2017 with no administrator established.

In His Own Words
The Old Mass, See by See
Acapulco2017-08-29 – presentNo act of his own
What he inheritedOpen tenure falling entirely inside the Traditionis custodes window; no governing act of his own concerning the 1962 Missal was found for it through as_of, and no statement of his concerning communion with the Society of St. Pius X after the Holy See's 2 July 2026 schism declaration was found. WEAKEST LINK: the 29 August 2017 installation is corroborated by nothing above Wikipedia tier - Catholic-Hierarchy's August 2017 block carries no Gonzalez line at all, and no diocesan-primary, ACI, Desde la Fe, or press installation report surfaced in five search rounds - so the date is carried roster-exact with this flag and the basis is neither upgraded nor downgraded without a ruling from Timothy or Claude. His predecessor Carlos Garfias Merlos left in November 2016, before the TC window, so there are no predecessor TC acts to inherit, and no CEM collective act is attributed to him.

Entry 9, ARZOBISPO DE ACAPULCO: born 29 de octubre de 1950 - THE VARIANT: the dossier ships the roster date 31 October 1950 (see the birth-day ruling in the bio and the CH arithmetic note below); priest 23 de noviembre de 1975; episcopal 19 de mayo de 1999; curia Quebrada No. 16, Col. The CEM date is the sole carrier of 29 October against the roster's 31 October and the day-page placement below; a roster born correction is banked for Timothy and Claude, never silently made. Year 2017, August, Bishop Events — Catholic-Hierarchy · 2017SPINE, NEGATIVE EVIDENCE. A full-page find for 'Gonzalez' returns NOTHING: Catholic-Hierarchy's August 2017 block carries no Gonzalez line at all, so the 29 August 2017 installation rests on nothing above Wikipedia tier (see the English Wikipedia reference below). The silence is not disproof - Catholic-Hierarchy omits installation lines elsewhere, as with Madrigal in batch 22 - but it is why the possession is carried with the weakest-link flag and is neither upgraded nor downgraded without a ruling. 31 October, Living Bishop Events — Catholic-HierarchySPINE, DAY-PLACEMENT ONLY. The birth line for Leopoldo Gonzalez Gonzalez sits on the 31 October day page but carries no year column on that row: it supports 31 October as the day and states no year. It does not discriminate the roster's 31 October 1950 against the CEM's 29 October 1950, and neither does the age arithmetic (48.5 at 19 May 1999, 54.6 at 9 June 2005, 66.6 at 30 June 2017 under either day), so the birth-day ruling rests on roster-standing plus the CEM's documented date typos in this corpus, not on arithmetic. Body: Seminary of Morelia from 1 January 1964; teachers'-college diploma (Universidad La Salle); priest in Morelia Cathedral 23 November 1975; seminary teacher August 1975 to June 1999; Vicar General of Morelia and Sacred Heart Pastoral Zone from 9 March 1995; Gregorian-extension studies (Escuela para Formadores, Toluca); appointed titular Voncaria and auxiliary of Morelia 18 March 1999; consecration 19 May 1999; body text 'On June 9, 2006, Benedict XVI appointed him as Bishop of Tapachula' is a YEAR TYPO, 2005 governs per Catholic-Hierarchy. LEADS ONLY, NEVER BIO PROSE: birthplace Abasolo, Guanajuato; priestly ordainer Estanislao Alcaraz y Figueroa; consecrator Alberto Suárez Inda; the seminary offices above. The Suárez Inda succession-list item IS this man, identity resolved: José Leopoldo González González cannot be the item (ordained bishop 25 January 2006, consecrator Sandoval Íñiguez per batch 10), and the date 19 May 1999 is Tier-3-confirmed (Catholic-Hierarchy plus CEM), but the principal-consecrator attribution rests on two Wikipedia pages in a loop and stays a lead. HELD ONLY, NEVER BIO PROSE: the motto string 'Abba Padre' (body gloss 'Abbá, Padre'), citing the Archdiocese of Acapulco bio archived 10 February 2018, which was NOT recovered; no second carrier and no own-words source. The article's reference to Televisa News is a permanent dead link. Parent-opened in full October 2026.

Shipped entry: Fragment A alone, 33 words, parent-recounted from the opened page. NEVER ADD: Fragment B (20 words; A + B = 53, over cap) or Fragment D (17 words; A + D = 50 exactly at cap, banked not shipped). The article's lede paraphrase renders the phrase singular ('God's provident hand'); the shipped direct quotation uses the plural ('hands') only. Otis facts for bio prose: Category-5 landfall early 25 October 2023; seminary and religious houses damaged; death toll at least 43 per TV Azteca. Parent-opened in full October 2026.
