Midyphil Bermejo Billones
Midyphil Bermejo Billones was born July 4, 1969, in Panay, Capiz. He studied at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary and at Loyola School of Theology, and earned a doctorate in sacred theology (S.T.D.) at the Gregorian University in 2011.
He was ordained a priest for Jaro on October 2, 1995. He served as vicar of Jaro Cathedral, as secretary to the archbishops, in youth and laity commissions, and as vice-rector then rector of St. Joseph Regional Seminary, Jaro (2013–2019).
He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu on July 16, 2019, and consecrated on August 27, 2019. He was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Jaro on February 2, 2025, and installed on April 2, 2025, at Jaro Cathedral. He was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Kabankalan on August 11, 2026, by letter of the Dicastery for Bishops dated August 11, 2026, made public August 14, 2026, serving concurrently with Jaro.
No decree, permission, suppression, expansion, or transfer of the Traditional Latin Mass by Archbishop Billones, in Cebu as auxiliary, in Jaro, or as administrator of Kabankalan, was found. Each tenure is coded separately; no_record in one tenure is not carried into another.
The November 28, 2024 suspension of the Tabor Hill dawn Mass was Archbishop Jose Palma's act as ordinary of Cebu, not Billones's as auxiliary, and is recorded under Palma's successor, Alberto Sy Uy, not here. The 2008 Jaro seminary-chapel lapse belongs to the Lagdameo era, before Billones and before Traditionis Custodes, and is background only. The SSPX chapel on By Pass Road, Jaro, is not a diocesan site, and no Billones act toward it was found.
The Kabankalan administration is roughly ten weeks old at the as-of date; no_record there means 'none found in a short tenure,' not a settled long-run record. The administrator appointment day (August 11, 2026) is day-confirmed by CBCP News, which cites the Dicastery for Bishops letter of that date.
