The Life

Miguel Ángel Castro Muñoz was born on 15 November 1970 in Puebla, studied philosophy and theology in the Palafoxiano seminary of Puebla, and was ordained a priest on 29 June 1998, incardinated in Puebla de los Ángeles. He obtained a degree in Church history at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Santa Croce) in Rome. As a priest he was vicar in various parishes, rector of the Guadalupano Shrine, supervisor of the minor seminary and professor of the major seminary, spiritual director of the Lay Missionaries of Charity, and coordinator of the Seminary Introductory Course; from 2020 he was parish priest of Jesús Buen Pastor. He is diocesan clergy of Puebla; he has no religious congregation and no post-nominal initials.

On 27 March 2021 the Holy See announced his appointment as Bishop of Huajuapan de León, and he was ordained bishop on 17 June 2021 for that see. The dossier codes the open tenure from possession, roster-exact. The corpus first-see rule would read the same 17 June 2021 date as consecration, and no separate installation report was found in three search rounds; Catholic-Hierarchy's June 2021 block carries exactly one Castro Muñoz line, the 17 June ordination, and no 'Installed' line. The possession basis therefore rests on the roster's own rationale, flagged here and in the reference note; if Timothy or Claude ever rule that consecration governs, the roster must be corrected first, because the dossier follows the roster, never the reverse. He was still Bishop of Huajuapan de León at as_of: he was 55, turning 56 on 15 November 2026. CURRENCY WEAKNESS: no 2026 diocesan-primary anchor was opened; currency rests on a search-rendered current-leadership listing, a pastoral-visit video title crawled days before as_of, and the absence of any contrary news, and a diocesan-site pass is still owed. In the CEM he is listed in the June 2023 directorio as a suplente of the Permanent Council for the province of Puebla, prior triennium only, and he was checked against the Prot. 314/24 comunicado for the triennium 2024-2027 and is NOT listed there, checked-and-absent from that document, not no commission ever.

The roster spelling governs; Exaudi's French-accented rendering of the see and the CEM curia line's rendering with a missing j are ignored variants, never different sees.
