He made his religious profession in 1974 and his perpetual profession in Guadalajara on 28 September 1980, studied philosophy and theology at the Salesian seminary of Tlaquepaque, took a licentiate in educación media in educational psychology and a licentiate in spiritual theology at the Salesian University in Rome, and did postgraduate work in spiritual theology at Berkeley, USA. He was ordained a priest on 11 December 1982 in Tlaquepaque. As a Salesian he was director and spiritual director of the Salesian Minor Seminary, director of the Salesian Institute of Higher Studies, director and novice master of the Chulavista novitiate, director of the Teologado Tlaquepaque, director of the Provincial House in Guadalajara, Vicario Inspectorial, Delegado para la Formación, and finally Inspector (provincial) of the North México Province; from 2015 he was in Rome as delegate for Latin America in the Formation Office and Dicastery of the Salesian General Directorate. On 13 June 2018 he was appointed bishop-prelate of Mixes on the resignation of Héctor Guerrero Córdova, S.D.B., and he was consecrated bishop on 2 August 2018 for that see, so the Mixes tenure codes from consecration, no separate installation being established. In the CEM he was a suplente of the Permanent Council for the province of Oaxaca in the June 2023 directorio, prior triennium only, and he was checked against the Prot. 314/24 comunicado for the triennium 2024-2027 and is NOT listed there, checked-and-absent from that document: he holds no 2024-2027 CEM commission, and the prior-triennium role is never carried forward. CURRENCY NOTE: no dated 2025 or 2026 press anchor was found; currency rests on the GCatholic diocese page (crawled 29 October 2026), the Catholic-Hierarchy living list (data 26 October 2026), the English Wikipedia page (2018-Present), and the absence of contrary news.
