Víctor Carabés Chávez
Víctor Carabés Chávez was born on 10 July 1963 in Mexico City and entered the minor seminary of the Missionaries of the Nativity of Mary (M.N.M.), studying philosophy and theology at the León Seminary. He made perpetual vows in 1990 and was ordained a priest on 2 July 1991. His offices, as the Holy See bulletin gives them, were director of the Pre-Vocational School in Monterrey, advisor for the economy, superior general, and, at his appointment, director of the Escuela Hogar in Mérida, in the archdiocese of Yucatán. No university degrees are stated in the bulletin curriculum, and none are asserted here. The superior-general dates carry a variant: the bulletin prints 'advisor for the economy and superior general (2008-2021),' where the parenthetical may attach 2008 to the advisor role or to both roles, while GCatholic gives the precise range 26 June 2009 to July 2021; the bio phrasing 'superior general until July 2021' is used, with both forms recorded, the bulletin governing if a single range must print.
He was appointed bishop of Tenancingo on 3 April 2024 and was consecrated bishop on 13 July 2024, and he is its second bishop, after Raúl Gómez González (2009-2022), whose tenure closed at the 19 May 2022 Toluca possession. The see was vacant roughly May 2022 to July 2024, and no vacancy administrator was established, none being invented here. He had no earlier episcopal tenure, no titular see, and no auxiliary, coadjutor or administrator tenure. His consecrator is not established and is left blank, and the Catedral de El Calvario is not inferred as the consecration venue, although it is the diocesan cathedral. The diocese was erected on 26 November 2009 from Toluca, as a suffragan of México, becoming a suffragan of Toluca on 28 September 2019; its statistics dated 31 December 2022 are 470,509 Catholics of 510,362 total, 33 parishes, 58 priests (43 diocesan, 15 religious), 92 religious and 23 seminarians. No area figure is asserted: ZENIT erection reporting gives 2,896 square kilometres (2009), the English Wikipedia infobox gives 5,020 square kilometres (2009-era), and GCatholic dated 2022 gives 3,025 square kilometres, and the three are not merged.
His surname is spelled Chávez in the roster, in Catholic-Hierarchy and in GCatholic, while the English Holy See bulletin prints Cháves twice; the parent ruling is that Chávez governs and Cháves is recorded as the English-bulletin variant, not merged, because the same bulletin issue carries its own demonstrable typo, 'the Revered Fr. Parsegh (Manuel) Baghdassarian,' and Cháves appears in no independent carrier. The Spanish bulletin would settle the question definitively and is still owed. No book or signed pastoral letter with a bibliographic anchor was found, and no opened page yielded a clean verbatim fragment of his own words, so works and quotes stand empty deliberately.
