Subject and later the sovereign of the Papal States. Great-great-great-grandson of Alexander VI. Erected the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi in Piazza Navona.
Opposed the Peace of Westphalia. Issued the apostolic constitution Cum occasione (1653), condemning the five doctrines of Jansenism.
